Houston, Texas (KTRK) – A pedestrian using a walker was killed in a crash and escape early Friday morning in western Houston.

Houston police said the accident occurred sometime after 5 a.m. on Westheimer Road near Lazy Hollow Drive.

Although pedestrians were injured near Lazy Hollow, they were dragged a mile to a mile and a half down the road, a People’s Protection Service officer at the scene said.

Multiple body parts were found between Lazy Hollow and Hullsmith Drive, according to HPD.

Investigators said it was unclear what exactly happened, but the vehicle(s) that hit the pedestrians failed to stop and provide assistance.

Police said it was dark in the area at the time of the accident and it was not clear if pedestrians were in a crosswalk.

All eastbound lanes in Westheimer, bound for the city, between Lazy Hollow and Hullsmith have been closed while police investigate the fatal crash.
